Position: Vice President of Exhibition and Design
Institution: Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, Miami
Sean administers the planning and implementation of the Museum’s exhibition program, oversees all exhibit development and production, and led the design process for the ILMS-funded River of Grass front-end evaluation study. For Science Learning+, Sean will align current exhibit development with research objectives to ensure that the River of Grass exhibit will be ready for a potential Phase 2 study, and make significant contributions to the white paper and Phase 2 proposal. Prior to joining the Museum, he led content and design development for exhibitions and public programs at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. A particular focus of Sean’s work is bilingual communication in exhibitions, and he has been instrumental in the development, testing and implementation of bilingual design protocols for all of the Museum’s visitor-oriented projects. In 2011, Mr. Duran was awarded the Noyce Leadership Institute Fellowship to strengthen the impact of science centers on their communities. He has developed over 26 gallery-scale exhibits dealing with science and humanities themes, and oversees all exhibit development, production, and evaluation. A particular focus of his work is multilingual communication in exhibitions and he has been instrumental in the development, testing and implementation of multi-language design protocols for all Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science visitor-oriented projects.
