Cheryl has more than 25 years of project management experience, and currently serves as PI for Children Investigating Science with Parents and Afterschool (CHISPA), an NSF-funded broad implementation collaboration between the Museum, the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the ASPIRA Association, and a network of ten science museums located in cities throughout the US, working together to increase the engagement of Hispanic children and their families with science and local science resources. Cheryl also directs the Early Childhood Hands-On Science (ECHOS) Professional Development and Family Engagement project, and served as Project Director for the ECHOS Goal 2 Development and Goal 3 Efficacy Study, funded by IES, contributing to the development and implementation of the ECHOS curriculum and PD model, as well as the ECHOS fidelity observation tool. Prior to joining the Museum staff, she worked as a professional development specialist for a national comprehensive school restructuring organization, and has served as a bilingual educator, curriculum developer, and technology trainer in the U.S. and México.
